Johann Drops a Blog

Random ramblings from an idiot

…and I feel fine

The Bob and Tom Show apparently has a theme for this week of:

“An asteroid is hurtling toward Earth, imminently to cause complete and total annihilation of the planet and everything on it.  You have 60 minutes until the end of the world.  What do you do?”

Naturally, most scenarios, especially those of B&T’s listeners, heathens that we are, involved something of a sexual nature.  My favorite was the guy that said he would go find Liv Tyler “because we already know she puts out when asteroids are headed for Earth“.  If you’re going to go for a celebrity to be able to go out with a bang, as it were, I can think of MANY I’d choose ahead of Liv Tyler.  Like certain local news anchors who shall remain nameless, to name two.

But then, that got me thinking about what I would do in the same situation.  Only thing is, an hour isn’t really a whole lot of time.  I mean, there’s traffic to consider, not to mention the requisite pandemonium stemming from the news of The End of the World As We Know It (segue to the title and back).  With only an hour to live, you’d pretty much have to pull a Stephen Stills and love the one you’re with.  In an hour’s time, I’d probably go to Mrs. Johann’s work, pick her up, and then pick up the little Johanns to spend those last few moments with them.

I know, I know.  Yawwwwwwwwwwwn.

However, for the sake of argument and a bit more realistic chance to accomplish something (not that this scenario is all that realistic anyway, but work with me, people), let’s say you get  24 hours’ notice.  Or even 12.  NOW what would you do?  Now that I’d have a bit more time to work with, I’d stop and tell some people what I truly think of them-namely, a couple people I work with, maybe phone a certain governor’s office and drop several F-bombs on his Lee Press-On Hair havin’ ass- then I’d start a mad frenzy of boob-grabbing and then I’d pick up the wife and kids.

Come on, folks, I can’t get TOO specific- my mother reads this blog sometimes.  And occasionally, so does Mrs. Johann.

Maybe if I get some commenters willing to share their final moments on Erf, I might be persuaded to elaborate a little more.

Seriously–what would you do, knowing the world was going to completely be destroyed in 12 or 24 hours?
