Paul Newman 1925-2008

One of the greatest actors in history has died.  Paul Newman was 83.

Nothing I could say about him would be a fitting enough tribute.

  1. And to think some people ACTUALLY thought Matthew McConaughey would be Paul Newman for a new generation. Newman was one of a kind, and he leaves behind a legacy of classic films of which most actors could only dream.

  2. Matthew McConau-ghey? Really?! GMAFB.

You are absolutely correct about Mr. Newman’s legacy, U.H.

Oh, and tell Mr. Cacciatore that Mrs. Johann and I are TRYING to find a way to come to the Machine this evening.

  3. I remember them hyping up Matthew in that regard, maybe around the time of ‘A Time to Kill.’ ‘Hud’ was an absolute must for me, when it comes to B&W DVD purchases. Truly remarkable to watch him in that film…

  4. Steve’s right. It was around the time of “A Time to Kill.” Then McConaughey started making movies with Kate Hudson and J. Lo and … well.

I will pass on to Mr. C. that you and Mrs. Johann hope to make it. He will hope to see you there.

  5. Oh, no! I didn’t know until I read your blog! I loved Paul Newman, not just for his looks, but for his acting ability, and for his generosity and humanitarianism. I probably remember him in a lot of movies that your generation has maybe only heard of, if that. There’ll never be another like him. What a loss.

  6. He made some kick-ass salad dressing, too.
