Random ramblings from an idiot

Groovy, baby

Happy 45th Birthday today to one of my favorite comedians, Mike Myers.

Mike Myers

He’s one of my favorites because he’s simply a funny guy. He makes me laugh even when just giving interviews. “So I Married an Axe Murderer” was SUCH an underrated movie, and it’s perhaps his best.

Maybe it’s just because I enjoy silly goofball comedies {that don’t have Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Jack Black, or any combination thereof}, but I loved all three Austin Powers movies and the baker’s dozen characters he played in each one, I loved “Wayne’s World“, and, of course, he was great as the voice of Shrek. I didn’t see the live-action “The Cat in the Hat” in which he starred (in a nearly identical costume Jim Carrey wore in his disappointing Grinch movie, except Myers’s is black and white instead of green), but I’m sure he was the best part. This new flick of his coming out, “The Love Guru“, looks to be the kind of warped movie I like. That or, like Mrs. Johann wonders, the trailers may be the funniest parts of the movie. Either way, I’m sure I’ll watch it and I’m sure I’ll like it.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Myers! Party on!

  1. For hilarious movies, what about “All of Me?”

  2. I loves me some “All of Me”. It’s just that Mike Myers isn’t in that one. ;)

  3. That boy’s head is like Sputnik! Spherical, but quite pointy in parts!

Now that was offside, wasn’t it? He’ll be crying himself to sleep tonight on his huge pillah.

  5. I wish I could share your enthusiasm for “The Love Guru,” and that trailer has gone over like crap in Cheerios every time I’ve sat in a theater where it’s come on. For a guy who does films so infrequently, it’s kind of disheartening to see him recycling the same stuff over and over and over again: Oh, hey, look, Verne Troyer is really small! Let’s make jokes about how portable he is! Don’t get me wrong, I loved all three “Austin Powers” movies, but those had as much that was twisted and fresh as was repeated from movie to movie. I can only hope “The Love Guru” will prove me wrong and that, if it sucks, I’m only out $5 or so.

But I’m with you, and I’m not using the quantifying bolded text: “SIMAAM” is Myers’ best movie.

  6. Yeah, you’re right about the Austin Powers movies recycling the same jokes over and over, but they still make me laugh.

Like I said, “The Love Guru” could be really funny. Or, it could suck serious ass. I will be curious to see what you have to say when you see it.
