Bizarre news day today.

Barack Obama “won” the Iowa caucus for the Bleeding Hearts Democrats, apparently, and for what it’s worth. Not sure yet if that’s a good thing or not, but at least that psycho-bitch Hilary Clinton didn’t win. Again, I don’t know what sort of president Obama would realistically be, but if Hilary gets elected, this country is in trouble, big time. You libbies think GWB is “evil”? Wait ’til Hilary arrives in the White House. Careful what you wish for, folks. I hope you’re okay with socialism. You shouldn’t be, but you had better be… On the Republican side, Mike Huckabee “won”. Not sure if that’s a good thing either. I’m really starting to think we should just be able vote for ourselves and one other person (ANY person- sleazeball politician or private citizen) and whoever winds up with the most votes is president. Fred Smith from Anytown, Anystate can’t possibly do any worse than the recent choices we’ve had.

What else… oh, Mother of the Year 2007, Britney Spears, collapsed and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Oh- that occurred after a police standoff resulting from her not turning her social accessories kids over to “the responsible one”, sperm donor Keven Federline. Or at least his people. I didn’t read the article that closely, because I really don’t care, but it made it sound like Babydaddy sent his homies to pick up the kids from Ma Kettle instead of going himself. Oh- and apparently Britney was on something the whole time. The article kept referencing “an unknown substance”. This whole story begs so many questions. Questions like: how fucked up do you have to be to make Kevin Federline look like the better parent, or to make Jessica Simpson look intelligent? Or, has the White-Trash Princess shown any remorse at all over having lost her kids? She virtually never attends the custody hearings, and when she does, she’s high and/or late. Then she gets hopped up and creates a standoff with police, and then stages this elaborate “collapse”? Give me a break. This broad with her sometimes shaved head and matching baby ditch needs to go back to Inbred, South Louisisippibamatuckey or wherever she’s from and go back to being white-trash “country”.

In a similar story, Lindsay Lohan apparently is drinking again. Shocker.

Locally, it appears the SPD is under fire (pardon the pun) yet again for having the unmitigated gall of doing their job. I’m referring to the NYE incident where the guy was shot for firing a gun in the air in “celebration” of the New Year. It’s really quite simple, people. Not even considering the danger factor (yes, people actually can be hit and killed by bullets fired into the air), it is illegal to discharge a weapon in the city limits. Why is it so hard to understand? What- because someone lives in an area where shots are fired “regularly”, it somehow makes it okay or “no big deal”? It’s sad that the guy was shot, but he was shot because he is an idiot and broke the law and didn’t drop his gun when told to do so.

From the Sports Desk, the Illiniweks got shelled in the Rose Bowl. Shocker. Yes, they had a good season, and being selected for the Rose Bowl was a huge achievement, and they should be proud. But they were grossly outmatched, and anyone who thought they would make a game of it were (obviously) kidding themselves. And on the hypocrisy front, a letter writer in today’s SJ-R made a valid point in reference to why Chief Illiniwek was eliminated as a mascot because he supposedly (in this case, “supposedly” actually means “didn’t”) represented hate or violence or racism or whatever, yet USC’s Trojan mascot runs to the other team’s end zone and jams his sword into the turf in a symbolic “killing” of said team and nobody has a problem with it. How is THAT less hateful or violent? Answer: it isn’t.

Looks like 2008 is going to be chock full o’ ridiculous bullshit “news stories”. Swell.
